Dibang Students to mobilize resource for emergency relief, calls for intervention of NDRF
ITANAGAR, June 11: With inclement weather dictating terms yet again, All Idu Mishmi Student Union has constituted a voluntary relief group to mobilize resource for providing emergency relief to affected people. It will consist of volunteers who will trek beyond the blockades and provide food and relief assistance.
Dibang Valley Disaster and Relief Committee will be Jidu Tacho as Chairman and Budha Mihu as Secretary.
Besides, the Union has decided to send a delegation to Itanagar to meet Chief Minister to talk on providing relief.

Further, the union observing the failure of civil administration and govt's inability to provide relief due to inclement weather, in a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs further called for deployment of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in Dibang Valley.
In light of large scale crisis and failure for relief and rescue work, the Students appealed for early deployment of National Disaster Response Force.
Since the region got cut off from rest of the country on March 31 due to heavy landslides and flood following the incessant rains, the resident of the district are trapped without food and essential medicines.
The Border Roads Organization has also declared that it cannot carry on its work till weather gets improved, it informed the Home Secretary. The union has further called for 12 hours 'bandh' in the twin district of Lower Dibang Valley/Dibang Valley on June 15th in solidarity with people suffering in Dibang Valley district.
However, all essential humanitarian services (medical, military movement, BRO vehicles, and Administration services) during the bandh will not be affected.
CoSAAP appeals for special ration for employees
Expressing concern over the shortage of essential commodities in Dibang Valley due to disruption in road communication caused by recent flood, the Confederation of Service Association of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) has appealed the Parliamentary secretary, food and civil supply for a special package of essential ration commodities , particularly for Govt employees in the district.

ITANAGAR, Jun 11: The ambitious Club Football League in Arunachal Pradesh named as SF8 League is all set to start from this summer with organizing committee chalking out modalities and structure of the tournament in its second meeting today.
The Club Football League being introduced for the first time in the state following instruction of All India Football Federation (AIFF), aims to tap hidden football talents of both urban and rural areas, said Organizing Committee Chairman cum Commissioner Kipa Kaha.

WAKRO, June 11: The ASSET will launch the “RAS” (RITU ARUNACHAL SANKALPA) scheme for girl child education on June 13, the Foundation Day of the Apna Vidya Bhavan. Anu Shiksha Seva Trust (ASSET) is launching the special scheme to assist girls to pursue secondary school education after they complete middle school education.
The special scheme to assist girls is launched by the ASSET in gratitude to Shraddha Prakash, Meeta Bardalai, President, AWWA, Meerut Army Division, Yamini Saini, Ritu Mehta, Dolly Sachar, former President, AWWA, DAH Division of the Army, The Arunachal Times, Echo of Arunachal and the Arunachal Front for promoting the cause of Girl’s Education in Arunachal Pradesh.
Three girls from Wakro will be provided free boarding facility under the scheme in the current academic session to pursue secondary school education. More girls will be assisted to complete matriculation under this program.
The RAS will be formally announced by Chandralesh Chouhan in the presence of Col.H.S.Chouhan, CO, 26 Maratha Light Infantry.
The Scheme is initiated by K.Krishna Rao, Principal, DPS, Duliajan who was deeply moved and felt concerned for improving the educational scenario in Arunachal Pradesh during his recent visit to Wakro.
He instantly decided to sponsor a girl child under RAS scheme and presented his personal contribution during his meeting with the Chairman ASSET in Duliajan. He also assured Anugrah that he will always be available to assist the cause of educating the deserving children in all possible ways.
The rate at which students drop out in primary, middle and secondary school level is a cause of great concern in Arunachal and ASSET will do its bit to address the concern.

It appealed the Department of Health and Family Welfare to provide fund to meet the immediate needs of the hospital and urged the MPs, MLAs including neighbouring district MLAs and NGOs to contribute funds from their LAD fund.
The management also appealed the government to provide advanced technology and enhance the five lakhs corpus fund to Rs 10 lakhs.
Meanwhile, the management thanked Local MLA Bosiram Siram and DC Onit Panyang for their constribution for the progress and development of the hospital and thanked MLA Ralom Borang for his assurance to donate high power transformer to the Hopital.

ITANAGAR, June 11: The Lower Subansiri Youth Organisation (LSYO) has appealed the district administration to allocate the vacant and waste land within Hapoli to those people who desire to settle there.
Clarifying that it is not demanding allotted and private land, the organisation said that their demand was based on the Govt agreement, Dt July 23, 1970. ‘Implement minimum central wages for project labourers’
ITANAGAR, June 11: The workers of Dibang Multipurpose Project have urged the project general manager to implement minimum rates of wages fixed under Minimum Wages Act 1948 by the union ministry of labour and employment.

Unless there is a uniform law for the rich and the poor
Dear Editor,
Apropos the editorial "Justice that betrayed"( 9 June), despite India's rhetoric of "democracy" and "independent judiciary", the hard reality remains that extreme or harsh punishments are reserved for the poor while the influential lobby, if at all brought within the ambit of law( on most occasions due to the constant persistence of the media), are accorded punishment hardly proportional to the gravity of the committed crime.
Thus after being callously negligent enough to kill as many as 15274 innocent people
and paralysing innumerable souls, the Union Carbide officials have been gifted mere
2 years( that too bailable) in prison, that too after 26 years of the grave offence.

Rapes and murders are nothing but routine occurrences in this "great" land of ours.
But hardly do we hear about severe punishment being handed to the perpetrators of
such ghastly crimes. But if the alleged "criminal" happens to be a poor watchman
in Dhananjoy Chatterjee, hailing from a remote village( alleged because there were
many loopholes in that case), rape and murder become "rarest of rare" case overnight
and we do not hesitate to hang him to death! According to an article of Malay Chaudhuri
published in September 2004 issue of 'India: Today and Tomorrow' -
Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay commented that law is nothing but a joke for the rich. The same picture holds absolutely true even today. Unless the rich and poor are judged by placing them on an equal platform and the verdicts are awarded irrespective of the financial conditions of the accused and the victim, India cannot afford to call itself a civilized nation.

I can't remain silent when my Orange Garden (though small in area)at Riew area, that too acquired by my sweat, and at a height of 233 MSL is to be submerged by the same Dam Reservoir.

envisaged to come up. Yet, I say Bodak Village is going to be affected and People
of Bodak should have their freedom of speech and expression alike people of Pongging

Once again, I appeal to all the Legislatures of the affected areas, Adi Bane Kebang(ABK), Galo Welfare Society(GWS)and our former Chief Minister Gegong Apang, during whose tenure as the Head of the Govt. of A.P. MOU/MOA was signed to come forward and find out an amicable/peaceful solution by hoisting Public meetings and reaching out to the villagers/public, lest, the Pongging harassment episode is repeated in some other place. Because, other than them, there is none to educate and even understand the local feelings and sentiments, for, there are so many Big Dams coming up in all the Districts.

Deplorable road condition of Capital region
Dear Editor,
Come monsoon and it’s the repetition of the same story of the dilapidated condition of the roads of Arunachal Pradesh in general and that of the state capital in particular. If anyone happens to pass through the highway connecting Gohpur to Banderdewa via Itanagar/Naharlagun one can easily make out the conditions of the lone lifeline of the state capital which is beyond ones imagination regarding road categorized under National Highways.

The conditions of the sector/arterial roads of the twin city of Itanagar/Naharlagun is altogether another sad story which is well known to all the residents of the twin city.
It’s a matter of great dismay that not even a single sector/arterial road of the twin city is properly maintained and motorable. More than anything what surprises me the most is that even the roads connecting to various government establishments including that of the minister bungalows and departmental colonies are in a very sordid state. What more can a common man expect of good roads when the roads connecting to the gates of the custodian of the roads are in such a deplorable conditions?
At this juncture of time I would like to question the department concerned who looks after the roads and highways as to why we have not learnt any lessons from our past mistakes as this scenario is repeating year after year since time immemorial. Why do we always wait for some kind of natural calamities before taking up any remedial measures? It’s high time that the public servants authorized to maintain proper care of the roads and highways wakeup from their deep slumber and ponder into their responsibilities for which they are paid for from the public money. After all the roads and highways are the lifeline and prime asset of any nation and no development is possible without proper road network.

Action should be initiated against APIOs/PIOs
Dear Editor,
Taking advantage of the Right to Information Act,2005, the citizens of Anjaw and Lohit District have filed numerous RTI case against various Departments to know about their Development funds spent in last so many years.
So far 60 cases have been filed under this Act against various Departments in both the Districts. Out of 60 cases, due to non submission of the required documents by concerned APIOs/PIOs on time, 14 cases have been appealed and heard by the State information Commission, Itanagar.
But out of these cases heard in SIC, except for two cases, the remaining cases have
been heard in absence of the APIOs/PIOs, wherein the appellants were present in all
the hearings. The non-
So, I on behalf of the Appellants under RTI, Act, 2005 of Anjaw and Lohit District would like to appeal the State Information Commission, Itanagar Arunachal Pradesh to take stern action as per the provisions of the RTI, Act, 2005 against all the APIOs/PIOs who have shown callousness towards the Act and also violated the Court's order and directions.

Consensus for fixation of price
Dear Editor,
Fixation of the values of antique is near impossible, for we do not have the knowledge of the items' origin and time of existence. But, today there are duplicities of the original pieces which make it difficult to even to speculate the present values.
The Tasang, Tado, Duhle, Chungre, Maje, Lahte are the valuables of all Tani Group of Arunachalese. These items are generally treated as antique because we do not know from where and how these precious items came into existence and use, though we have verbal stories of the origins of all different items in question.
The problem today with the sky-
So far as the present trend of pricing of these ancient items are concerned, all the users need to ponder over the matter and set a standard scale base on the originality, usefulness and availability of all antiques.
